Welcome to L'Aquila

Welcome to L'Aquila, Capital City of the Abruzzo Region.

The city of L'Aquila, founded in 1254, lies at an elevation of 720 metres above sea level in the valley of the river Aterno. The city is overlooked by the Gran Sasso mountain (2,912 m), the highest peak of the Apennines.

Today, L'Aquila is facing the considerable challenge of reconstruction resulting from the earthquake of 6th April 2009 which devastated a wide area including the city itself and many surrounding towns. As a foreign student in our city you can make your own individual, original and important contribution to its rebirth!
